By His Wounds

“He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.”

1.

HE CARRIED IT HIMSELF

No one handed Jesus our sin; He took it up Himself, in His own body, onto the tree. The weight was voluntary.

2.

OUR SINS, BY NAME

Peter does not speak of sin in general — he says our sins. What hung on the cross had your name on it.

3.

DIE TO SIN, TRULY LIVE

The cross carries a purpose clause: that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. Forgiveness always aims at transformation.

4.

THE HOLY PARADOX

His bruises became our balm. Heaven's deepest healing was distilled in the wounds He refused to avoid.

5.

BACK TO THE SHEPHERD

Peter continues: we were straying like sheep, but have returned to the Shepherd of our souls. Healing ends in belonging.

6.

LEAVE THE OLD BEHIND

Act: name one habit that belongs to your old life, surrender it to God out loud, and take the first small step away from it this morning.
